CDR Angela Clements, USN Retirement Ceremony

On Saturday, June 23, 2018, longtime NNOA member and scholarship sponsor CDR Angela Clements, SC, USN held her Retirement Ceremony at Joint Base Andrews Air Station in Camp Springs, Maryland.  CDR Clements is a native of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.  She enlisted in the Navy’s Delayed Entry Program in June 1985 and was later commissioned in 1990 via the Reserve Officers’Training Corps Program at Spelman College, Atlanta, Georgia, where she received a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Mathematics.  She also earned a Master’s of Public Administration degree from Troy State University, Washington, DC in 2002.  CDR Clements served 28 years in the Navy in a variety of active duty and reserve assignments.  She attended the Navy Supply Corps School in Athens, Georgia followed by a successful tour aboard USS SHASTA (AE-33) as the Disbursing and Sales Officer.  In 1998 CDR Clements transitioned to the Navy Reserves where she held a number of key positions.  Notable jobs included Officer-In-Charge, NAVSUP Weapons Systems Support NAVSUP-WSS) Reserve Unit, Mechanicsburg, PA.  Acting Officer-In-Charge, Naval Ordnance Logistics Supply Center (NOLSC) – Ammo (DET D), Mechanicsburg, PA and Contracting Officer, Fleet Industrial Supply Center (FISC) Detachment 306, Washington, DC.  CDR Clements also completed two reserve deployments as the Officer-In-Charge, Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) – Disposal, Kuwait mobilizing from July 2009-January 2010 and the Budget and Plans Officer, Combined Joint Task Force – Operation Inherent Resolve from July 2017-April 2018  In her civilian career, CDR Clements serves as the Chief of Staff (GS-15), Defense Debriefing Service (DDS), Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA), Washington, DC

Her military decorations include the following: Defense Meritorious Service Medal (2 awards), Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Navy Commendation Medal (2 awards), Navy Achievement Medal, Meritorious Unit Citation, National Defense Service Medal, Southwest Asia Service Medal (with two Bronze Stars), Sea Service Deployment Ribbon, and Kuwait Liberation Medal.  Guest Speakers for CDR Clements Retirement Ceremony included two former shipmates CAPT (Ret) Willie Evans, SC, USN and CAPT Gary Powe, SC, USN, Military Director (AIR 6.8) NAVAIR, Patuxent, Maryland.  CDR Clements was joined in the ceremony, by husband CDR (Ret) Robert Clements, SC, USN, daughter Kayla, son Robert Clements, Jr. (CJ), Mother (Barbara Lewis), and numerous other family members and friends.

As in true Navy tradition the ceremony was “superb”!  “Best Wishes” are forwarded to CDR Clements and her family for 28 years of distinguished service to this nation and from all her friends and colleagues within the National Naval Officers Association!

The Membership of The National Naval Officers Association Proudly Salutes The Fallen Heroes of The U.S.

Military on this Memorial Day in the year 2018.  We recognize with “remembrance, splendor, dignity, elegance, respect, and glorification,” the greatest ultimate contribution; the giving of one’s life in service for our country.  These incredible men and women, who served and gave the greatest sacrifice, while on duty in the U.S. Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, and Coast Guard, must be remembered forever.  Therefore, The National Naval Officers Association on this Memorial Day, honors with “reverence and adoration,” with a continuance of prayers for the souls of our fallen heroes resting In eternal life!
