Welcome to the Chaplain’s Corner

November 2016

Greetings All,
As we quickly approach the Season of Thanksgiving, I would like to simply encourage you to give thanks with a grateful heart.  The Scriptures declare to us to rejoice in the Lord always; again I say rejoice.  Let your gentleness be known to everyone.  The Lord is near.  Do not worry about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your request be made known to God.  And the peace of God which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds. I don’t know about you, but I could use some peace in my life right now.  In giving thanks, we are called to pause and reflect upon God’s activity in our lives and in our world.  Nothing takes God by surprise.  During this time let us become mindful of the gift of God’s loving guidance and presence.  This is our hope during times of anxiety and uncertainty.  Please take time to slow down, breathe deeply, look around at the changing colors of the leaves and bask in God’s grace.  Do not be seduced to neglect yourself, sacrificing your needs to please others constantly. Take the time to make connecting with God a daily ritual. Having an attitude of radical thanksgiving means having appropriate time and distance from other people, places and things, in order that you spend time in the peaceful presence of God with an open heart and an open mind that is willing to receive from the Lord.
Give Thanks with a grateful heart
Give Thanks to the Holy one
Give Thanks, for the gift of God’s abiding presence and provision
Prayer Thread:  Thank you dear Lord, for your loving presence abiding with us.  Empower us to embrace your peace during times of uncertainty and pain.  Thank you for loving family and friends who make our world a better place to live and for the abundance you always provide-AMEN!
Shalom,  Chaplain Cain

And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind that ye may prove what is good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. -Romans 12:2

To truly hear, you must quiet the mind- Unknown

In his highly acclaimed book 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, Stephen R. Covey explains the first habit is to become proactive; he states that change starts from within, and highly effective people make the decisions to improve their lives through the things that they can influence rather than by simply reacting to external forces. Seeking to understand how thoughts guide actions and improve our health, wealth, quality of life is becoming a mantra in our society. We are living in a time of abundance- people are
constantly retooling-retraining- recycling their job/work/relationship experience for something that is a mutual fit. How do we transform? The bible tells us in Romans 12:2 by the renewing of our hearts and minds. In order to gain the winning life that you want, you have to have an honest head clearing. Risk being honest with yourself and embrace honesty that will ultimately lead you to the right fit for you!

Prayer: Dear God, transformation is in order for me, I’ve become caught in a rut-Grant me your divine guidance as I clear my thoughts and turn my heart towards you. AMEN!

“And the Peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus”-Philippians 4:7

Surrender means, by definition, giving up attachment to results. When we surrender to God, we let go of our attachment to how things happen on the outside and we become more concerned with what happens on the inside. We have all received things that we thought would bring us happiness, only to find that they did not. The external searching for anything other than love
to complete us and to be our source of happiness is idolatry. Money, power, privilege or any other worldly satisfaction offers temporary relief for existential pain. God desires for us to have Peace- not as the world gives it (temporarily) but as God has ordained. When we surrender to God, we surrender to something bigger than ourselves-to our God who knows what he is
doing. When we stop trying to control events, they fall into a natural order, an order that works. We are at rest while a greater power is at work on our behalf. Giving up the illusion of control takes courage to surrender our all to God.

Prayer Thread: Dear God, I surrender my desire to control everyone and everything. Lord I’m so tired & confused, I need your healing peace. AMEN!

ALL TO JESUS, I SURRENDER
ALL TO HIM, I FREELY GIVE
I WILL EVER LOVE AND TRUST HIM
IN HIS PRESENCE DAILY LIVE
I SURRENDER ALL
I SURRENDER ALL
ALL TO THEE MY BLESSED SAVIOR
I SURRENDER ALL

August 2016

There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under heaven;…a time to weep and a time to laugh, a time to mourn and a time to dance–Ecclesiastes 3:1,4

God created a time for each season. Heaven has a master plan of  cycles which allows endings and beginnings to flow together. We live through these seasons and try to adjust to them under heaven’s powerful gaze. If you are facing a challenging season right now, allow time for appropriate feelings. Allow yourself to feel whatever emotions bubble up for you– (do not stop your feelings, this causes one to become emotionally sick) Transitions are a part of life and seasons, we must properly honor transitions thru Spiritual Maturity and Growth. We are never meant to stay in the same place and same season for copious amounts of time. I didn’t understand that when I was younger: The older Saints would say, “God will not close one door without opening another”-at first I would become frustrated and withdrawn, but now I’ve learned how to pray thru the seasons and trust God in times of transition.

Never allow sadness to breed doubt when it is meant to breed hope for tomorrow.

Prayer Thread: Dear God, I am in a valley of uncertainty. I need hope and faith for the future. Help me to focus on you instead of life’s changes.
AMEN!
