President’s Welcome Message
Welcome to the 47th Annual NNOA Symposium
Please join us for the 47th Annual National Naval Officers Association Leadership, Professional Development and Training Symposium.
American Sea Power is more vital today than ever. According to the National Security Strategy and National Defense Strategy, our nation is again engaged in a great power competition while simultaneously battling asymmetric threats across every domain. These challenges call for more innovative and resilient professionals to lead in our Navy, Marine Corps, Coast Guard, Public Health Service, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and Maritime Administration.
It is for these reasons, the NNOA has chosen this year’s theme, “Charting a Course for Tomorrow’s Leaders.” Top leaders from our Sea Services, PHS, NOAA, and MARAD will engage, encourage, and inspire as we discuss keys to success in shaping future leaders. We have received assurance and endorsement from our Sea Service leadership, PHS, NOAA and MARAD. Plan now to join us August 7-8, 2019 at the Admiral Kidd Conference Center in San Diego, CA for this important event. Additionally, NNOA will be sponsoring Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) event on August 6th onboard the USS America.
Receive one-on-one mentoring on career advice, hear from our top leaders, and expand your network. To cap off our symposium, I am proud to announce that our guest speaker will be presidential advisor, pastor, theologian, author, activist, and academic who served as the United States Ambassador-at-Large for International Religious Freedom Dr. Suzan Johnson Cook.
I strongly encourage you to register now and spread the word to your shipmates, battle buddies, colleagues and co-workers.
