APPROVED AMENDMENTS (CLICK TAB FOR DETAILS)

Add Sexual Orientation to NNOAs Non-Discrimination Policy – Currently, the 5th Article of Incorporation lists “race, creed, color, sex, religion and national origin as traits NNOA will not use to deny a person membership. It is time time we add sexual orientation to that list.

APPROVED: Add sexual orientation as a trait that NNOA will not use to deny membership. Currently, the only traits that the NNOA Articles of Incorporation list that cannot be used to deny membership into NNOA are race, creed, color, sex, religion and national origin.

Increase the time period available to electronically vote in NNOA BOD elections – Currently, the Articles of incorporation only allow voting for BOD nominees during the National Conference. Extending the voting period to during the week of the National Conference will provide more flexibility for when voting can commence and end. This flexibility will give members not present at the conference more time to vote. Modifying this language will allow the NNOA JAG to set the dates and times of the voting.

APPROVED: In order to provide additional flexibility in voting for BOD nominees and to allow more time for members, not present at the National Conference, to vote, modify the Articles of Incorporation to allow voting for BOD nominees during the week of the Conference and not just during the dates of the Conference. Currently the Articles of Incorporation only allow for voting for BOD nominees during the Conference.

Changing Title of PAO and JAG to PRO and Legal Advisor – NNOA’s use of these titles is not wholly representative of the position descriptions. Our JAG position, in point of fact, is not an actual JAG, but more appropriately termed, our organization’s “Legal Advisor.” Our Public Affairs Officer’s responsibilities are more expansive than this name implies as that position manages all aspects of our communications with the public, through social, print and broadcast media as well as targeted messaging for specific relative audiences.

APPROVED – Modify the Articles of Incorporation and the BYLAWS to replace terms Pubic Affairs Officer and Judge Advocate General with terms Public Relations Officer and Legal Advisor, respectively.

Modify Regular Membership Year – Currently, the payment for regular membership is due annually. This payment is due on 1 July of each year and covers a period of membership from 1 July through 30 June. New members that do not begin their membership on 1 July, pay a prorated membership fee. In an effort to increase membership and ease the Membership Director’s and Treasurer’s ability to track membership, the period of regular membership for each member should be one year from the date that member submits his or her payment. Payment for renewal of regular membership would be due annually, on the anniversary date of the initial regular membership. If payment for renewal of regular membership is not received by the initial anniversary date but subsequently paid, the date of that payment will become the member’s new anniversary date for regular membership.

APPROVED: In an effort to improve the efficiency of the Membership processing, modify The Articles of Incorporation and BYLAWS so that the period of regular membership for each member would be one year from the date that member submits his or her payment. Renewals for regular membership would be due annually, on the anniversary date of the initial regular membership. If payment, for renewal of regular membership, is received after the initial anniversary date, the date of that payment will become the member’s new anniversary date for regular membership.
