This event is for local San Diego students, grades 6 – 12.
Join us for a hands-on, interactive experience
(PRE-REGISTRATION REQUIRED TO ATTEND)
This STEM event provides local San Diego students, grades 6-12 (school-year 2018/2019) with an opportunity to learn more about military STEM careers. NNOA will award 2 lucky students (2018/19 Graduating Seniors only) with $500 scholarships to apply towards college.

Location: USS America at Naval Base, San Diego
Time: 0800-1300 (5 hours)
Participation Target: 700 students
STEM Day Schedule of Events:
0700 Check-in 0700 at Mariner’s Park, NBSD
0800-0830 Transit to NBSD via Gate 6 – (1) volunteer needed on each bus (NNOA Chapter)
NNOA Welcome – (CAPT Marco Cromartie)
Keynote Address – STEM Innovation in the sea services members (RDML Ponds)
Shipboard Tour/ Static Displays /Microsoft interactive display
Lunch with USS America crew/Sea Service Recruiters
College Scholarship Awards (2-scholarships- $500 each (NNOA Capt Don Flowers USN RET /CDR Lin Walton USN RET))
Closing Session-certificates presented to community partners (NNOA) – (Closing speaker pending invitation acceptance)
Depart USS America 1300
Transit back to Mariner’s Park for student pick-up
Maps and Transportation
Event Location: USS America at Naval Base, San Diego
Pickup Location: Mariner Park (for group transport to and from base), S 32nd St, San Diego, CA 92113. The new drop-off and pick-up location is Mariner Park across from the NEX and Commissary 32nd Street
Pickup / Dropoff Time: The STEM Coordinator will send details with pickup and dropoff times to registrants.
